Winter Campfire
I am not sure what word or words to use to describe making a nice cozy place in the wilderness to eat a meal and to relax. So, for want of a better phrase, I choose to call this "setting up camp". We are not talking about spending the night in the snow, but, rather, building a little fire, grilling some food, and enjoying the outdoors for a couple of hours.
When we arrived back from our little ski tour, Thor Gunnar had already started a fire and dug out a place to sit that would be protected from the wind. We brought hot coffee, hot water for tea, some sandwiches, hot dogs and buns. The weather was very nice -- in the high 40s, very little wind and mostly sunny. The hot dogs tasted good grilled over an open fire. We grilled our cheese sandwiches too.
