After the Bryllupsfest

As is the case at every big party I have attended in Norway, the Bryllupsfest lasted until sunrise.  Of course, sunrise was in the 3:00 hour, but still, Norwegians know how to have fun.  We didn't start the dance music until about 11:00PM, which was too bad, because I had brought 5 hours of music!  I think it was during a Bob Marley and the Wailers song that Devon remarked that the musical selections encompassed a wide variety of genres (although she did not use those exact words, that was her point).  We had everything from Glen Miller to Christina Aguilera; from "gammeldans" (literally, "old dance", but actually more like traditional folk dance) to tango, to waltzes, to swing.  The music was definitely geared for the "over 55 crowd", so it might have been lame for the few who were under 40, but our friends thought it was great.

Unn and Ole Morten took Devon, Patrick and Piper home around 1 a.m., I think.  Then they came all the way back to help us pack up everything and take us home, too.  Uncle Willy asked for a ride, so we drove him home, too.  Willy is in his mid-70s, but he is in terrific condition.  He danced with every lady there, and he danced nearly every dance.  I asked hime what he thought of the music.  His answer, "Some was good, some was not so good."  Well, it was good enough for him to dance the night away . . ..

Sunday, July 10, was a quiet day.  It started out sunny and warm and ended with a terrific thunder shower with a spectacular lightning show.  I took Devon and Patrick to the airport so that they could get away to Copenhagen for a few days.  We got to keep Piper for the week (5 days)!  She is such a good baby and we enjoyed her so much!
